Hospital Charges Information

We encourage all patients to find out as much as they can about the cost of their care before coming to the hospital. Please contact us if you would like to obtain an estimate of the cost of our services.

If you have insurance, you should check with your insurance company to find out if the service is covered and what your copayments and deductibles might be. The same is true if you’re on Medicaid or Medicare. If you do not have health insurance coverage, please call Patient Financial Services at 256-894-6600 and we will be happy to assist you with an estimate of your bill and work with you to come up with a plan for payment. Based on the information you provide, you may be able to receive financial assistance.

Marshall Medical Centers complies with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services which requires all hospitals to post their standard charges online.

Please note that these listed dollar amounts are the gross standard charges to provide a particular service, supply, or drug. These amounts do not reflect what the hospital is paid or what patients will ultimately pay.

Actual hospital payments received for providing these services are set by either the government or by negotiations with private insurance companies. These payments are typically less than the standard charges of caring for our patients.

Consumers will note that even in regions throughout Alabama, hospital standard charges vary. This is due to a variety of factors including negotiated payments, average wage index by geographic area, drug and supply costs contracts, and the amount of uncompensated care.
