Marshall Medical Centers’ Hospital President Announces Retirement

October 7, 2021 – Cheryl Hays, President of Marshall Medical Centers, has announced her plans to retire within the next six months after serving in the organization’s top leadership position since May 1, 2020. Prior to becoming president, Hays held positions – including Chief Operating Officer for MMC and Administrator at Marshall Medical Center North - since 1999.

Roy Rollings, Marshall Medical Centers’ Board Chair, stated, “Our hospital system and our community have been blessed to have had a leader like Cheryl. We were fortunate she assumed the responsibility when Gary Gore retired as CEO after more than thirty years, and she has skillfully led our organization through one of the most difficult times in the history of healthcare.”

“The employees, medical staff and volunteers at Marshall Medical Centers are truly special” said Hays. “I am grateful to have been a part of a team who shows compassion, an incredible depth of knowledge and genuine concern for our patients every day. Because of them, Marshall Medical Centers can look forward to a bright future.”

According to Jeff Samz, CEO, Huntsville Hospital Health System, a search will begin immediately for Hays’ replacement.  “In the coming months, we will work with the Marshall Medical Centers’ Board, the current leadership team and the medical staff to find and select Marshall Medical’s next president.  We are thankful to Cheryl for her willingness to be a part of the transition.”
